THE ROAD IS OUR AGONY, BUT ALSO OUR DAILY BREAD - -
- a series of memorable and forgettable rants, ramblings, and stories from the road. . .
I think this is a better video of it, and Ira has a speaking part!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbvQqssD_jII dunno if DM has the chops to make something like that go off, more of a paris tours town?
sweet. i'll post it!!
Des moines doesn't have any "real" climbs in it to subject poor innocent bike trail riders too. For Shame. The Hill outside of Boone on L (next to seven oaks) isn't bad but it's only half a mile long.
I did this ride, it was just as insane as it looks in the video. It took me over 4 hours and had 7500' of climbing in 42 miles. And it was raining. A lot. And yes, I walked the 24% grade hill, and then the 20% grade hill, and later the 18% grade hill. Everything else was rideable at 14-15%. But it wasn't epic (see http://theorphanageandyou.blogspot.com/2009/12/liege-1980-dont-say-it.html) 'cause I didn't bonk. But I saw lots of people fall over. --Ann
