Des moines doesn't have any "real" climbs in it to subject poor innocent bike trail riders too. For Shame. The Hill outside of Boone on L (next to seven oaks) isn't bad but it's only half a mile long.

I did this ride, it was just as insane as it looks in the video. It took me over 4 hours and had 7500' of climbing in 42 miles. And it was raining. A lot. And yes, I walked the 24% grade hill, and then the 20% grade hill, and later the 18% grade hill. Everything else was rideable at 14-15%. But it wasn't epic (see http://theorphanageandyou.blogspot.com/2009/12/liege-1980-dont-say-it.html) 'cause I didn't bonk. But I saw lots of people fall over. --Ann
