forty years ago today in chucktown

not surprisingly, i remember this. it's not EVERYday an F5 strikes. [i remember well the monster F5 that wiped out jordan, too]
me and the missus--and the mistress and her dog--just barely got into the cellar before that killer took away the family farm.

we rebuilt in a different part of the state.

that, my friends, was the birth of the orphanage.

and now you know the rest of the story...

Totally off topic for this post here, but I thought you might find this story interesting: http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/05/in-a-city-built.html

Would love to hear your thoughts on what those crazy Californians are doing! :)

My mom was in Chucktown that day. She was just about to finish her student teaching semester. I think she got to end it early.

thanks, mr/ms hippie-g. i got this link from several folks today, and i recommend it HIGHLY.

if i lived there, you KNOW i'd be doing that shit, too...

it's different here in i-war [joe cocker's pronunciation], where we don't have that kind of gridlock. you know it's bad when you're getting passed by rollerbladers and tallbikes.
